The overall objective of the Z-CARE project (Zaragoza Climate Adaptation & Resilience for Everyone) is to promote the transformation of Zaragoza into a climate-neutral, resilient and healthy city by 2030, in line with the European Net Zero Cities Mission. To this end, the project integrates actions in sustainable mobility, energy efficiency and urban renaturalisation, reinforced by two cross-cutting themes: water resilience and adaptation of human health to climate change. Z-CARE aims to demonstrate that collaborative innovation between clusters, SMEs and research centers can generate advanced technological solutions to reduce emissions, anticipate climate risks and protect the population.
ENDEF’S ROLE: ENDEF is participating in this project alongside CLENAR (Aragon Energy Cluster) and is contributing in particular to the development of the work package focused on energy efficiency and smart management of urban energy communities. To this end, ENDEF is dividing its contribution into two blocks. The first block involves the identification, analysis and modelling of energy scenarios applied to real energy communities in the city of Zaragoza, and the second involves the development of simulation and optimization algorithms that enable the generation of optimisation recommendations in the proposed scenarios.
