Through a combination of renewable energy sources, CRETE VALLEY will demonstrate, under real life conditions, the sustainable and cost-effective production and storage of renewable energy to meet the island’s annual energy needs.

The project integrates innovative ICT technologies, open digital tools, social innovation processes, and robust business models. A key feature of CRETE VALLEY is its strong emphasis on the participation of local stakeholders: the project views active involvement of local communities in energy transition projects as essential to achieving both energy independence and energy democracy.

The CRETE VALLEY project meets local annual energy needs using multiple renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal exchange, biomass, biogas/biomethane, and hydrogen. The REV-Lab integrates four Community Energy Labs (CELs) located at different sites across Crete. Each CEL will rely on different renewable energy sources, depending on specific geographical and climatic conditions. The communities benefiting from the production and storage of renewable energy include around 150 residential, commercial, and industrial facilities and 175 households.

ENDEF is participating in Energy Community 3 – Arkalochori, contributing to the development of new hybrid water solar panel models based on more advanced photovoltaic technologies, such as n-type and TOPCon, than those currently used in commercially available water hybrids. These hybrid panels will be integrated into a municipal pool within CEL-3.

CRETE VALLEY is coordinated by the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems of the National Technical University of Athens (ICCS) and brings together 41 partners from across Europe.

60 months – 41 partners – 4 Local Energy Communities:

CEL 1: Geothermal + PV

CEL 2: Biogas + CHP + Wind

CEL 3: Biomass + Wind + PVT

CEL 4: Hydrogen Production

Financial Framework: European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme: GAP101136139

Start Date: December 1, 2023, End Date: November 1, 2028

[137
post-19115","proyectos","type-proyectos","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_proyectos-rd","resize-featured-image
["GET
